Eaton’s XT IEC Power Control Opens the Door to General Motors' Opportunities
When General Motors learned that Eaton’s
XT IEC contactor was small enough to fit in
the enclosures of a new project and would
also provide cost savings, it recognized that
the contactor was the ideal
solution for the application.
Eaton’s Tom Bush reports,
“Although General Motors
had been using a competitor’s
contactor, when it undertook
a new project, that contactor
was too large for the
enclosure. When the company
asked Shawn Degnan from
our local WESCO distributor
for a solution, he recognized
that our XT IEC product would
meet the requirements.”
Bush and Degnan demonstrated the contactor
to General Motors, and after explaining how the
product’s size, durability and price would
provide the ideal solution, they earned the sale.
Bush notes, “Since our contactor is 20 percent
smaller than others on the market, it is the only
product that could fit the enclosure’s space
limitations. General Motors not only saved
money on the product itself, but also avoided
the redesign and manufacturing costs that
would have been needed to accommodate a
larger contactor.
“Our ability to meet
this need and make the
customer aware of Eaton’s
products as well as its
service and support
capabilities has earned
us General Motors’
confidence. We believe
that this sales success will
set the stage for additional
opportunities for Eaton at
General Motors.”
