WESCO delivers for the OEM Industry

St. Louis, MO

A target OEM manufacturer of printing presses had service issues with its largest electrical supplier. Distribution total available market at this account was more than $4M, but CBC had done less than $1K in the previous years.


Customer Solution
Dan Runge (Field Sales Representative) recognized the potential with this account and worked with an Eaton representative to receive an order for 20 circuit breakers. In addition, Tim Dillon (Inside Sales Representative) secured a $1,200 order of Daniel Woodheard alternatives for two of the customer’s cable needs. This proved that CBC understood the production requirements and had the tools in place to reduce down time due to late deliveries. Dan and Tim’s hard work totaled $4K in new business with this customer.

An OEM customer received a proposal for long-term cost savings on electrical controls and components provided through Allen Bradley. Instead, the customer was experiencing an ongoing cost increase and seeking a 20% cost reduction.

Customer Solution
This expansive project is being handled by Dan Runge (Field Sales Representative) with the help of the Honeywell Safety Specialist. His proposal to the customer is to kit all of the safety for each machine. Each machine has a minimum of six safety interlocks and a safety rope pull. The estimated value for this project will exceed $50K and could double with the implementation of a newly released product from Honeywell that will eliminate wiring issues.

The CBC-Tulsa Team and CBC-Connect have been working on a harness and cable assembly package for FW Murphy. They have more business than they can keep up with at the present time and we have partnered with them to help them meet their shipping deadlines.

Customer Solution
FW Murphy was very impressed with the LEAN Customer Value Creation video presented to them. It helped ensure CBC’s place in the bidding process on this project. The customer has informed us that four of these part numbers will be added to our already growing Supplier Managed Inventory. We are looking at a large potential of new Value-Added business and the Murphy team will be visiting CBC-Austin and CBC-Saltillo. CBC has entrenched ourselves as a solutions provider by being able to offer services varying from assembly to stocking programs.
